"One thing I’d like to see, is more bloggers embrace their ethnic heritage. So Minority Militant is Laotian and makes it known when it’s pertinent. I write all the time ab out Japanese stuff. I’d love to see Vietnamese Americans blog specifically about their worldview, and Cambodians and Koreans likewise."

Interesting observation. I can say I read plenty of blogs, and while I know some good ones written by Korean Americans such as:

Eugene Cho
http://eugenecho.wordpress.com/

Zontiago
http://zontiago.livejournal.com/

... I must admit I don't know that many blogs by Vietnamese or Laotian Americans (with Minority Militant (LA), DISGRASIAN (V), being the exceptions). But they have to be out there, right?

I'm sure at the BANANA Conference those kinds of gaps in the collective Asian Americana "blog knowledge" will be filled. Since I can't attend myself, I'm already looking forward to people's posts about the experience.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Gil. Love it.

re: "Maybe BANANA will be a great place to start the process of letting all of us “come out” and shine a little bit so we can see each other…. "

This was Steve's and my original goal. Sometimes on your side of the computer you may not feel it; but believe it or not, many many many people (including other bloggers) are reading your blogs everyday. Sometimes, information sinks in more when you know or have met the person who wrote it. Then you get to visualize the Asian who wrote it for you...while reading it. (Get it?)

BANANA gives this opportunity.
