An important one you left out of your fine list. Rear Admiral Gordon Pai'ea Chung-Hoon, USN. There's an Arleigh Burke class destroyer named for him.

Thanks, Isami -- Yes, I should have mentioned the belated Medals of Honor awarded to JAs in 200, by President Clinton. One of the Medal of Honor recipients, George "Joe" Sakato, lives in Denver, and he's a wonderful member opf the local AAPI community, speaking often about JA history, internment and his own experiences fighting as a member of the 442nd.

Hi Gil,

I congratulate you on a great article. The 100th/442nd received 21 Medals of Honor of which 20 were bestowed belatedly in 2000. The number of DSCs and Silver Stars should be reduced to account for those upgraded to the Medal of Honor. The Go for Broke organization should be able to provide you with the accurate figures.

Mahalo,
